Just before we left the US in 2008, I attended Carl Cartee's first worship conference in Gatlinburg, TN, called 'Inspire.' It was there that our church worship team first heard about what you do at Wake the Silence.

My good friend Justin Brock (with Crossroads Ministries) contacted you recently to request that you consider donating a guitar that we could use with our church youth group and at the school. We are overflowing with young men that are growing both in their guitar skills and in their relationships with Christ. Your organization graciously sent that guitar, and I want you to know that it is being used often to worship the Lord in this place.

Today was the first time we had the opportunity to plug it into an amp. Our church just experienced their first youth-led meeting here this morning. It was beautiful, and we really appreciated having such a great instrument to use.

Thank you so very much for what you're doing around the world, and for allowing us to be blessed through your ministry.

Joyfully,
Charlene Campbell

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v22.nonxt6.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D1e7959b5e53d04e0%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1329858007%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D70C8FF685FCD793D03F59A2D1E48BC26547B843B.2E44D525EAF593D09EBE7C662EC69BB9087AEEA2%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D1e7959b5e53d04e0%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DgSyDb1SuQqjEt7dUPFODAkQnHac&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Nepal Trip!

Jaymashi (Christian greeting in Nepal)! We want to thank all of you for helping through monetary support and prayer, as we traveled to Nepal in March. Padam and Prabina, Nepali missionaries and our good friends, have had several needs met through the ministry of WAKETHESILENCE. Around a year and a half ago, they contacted us with a need for a portable sound system and an electric/acoustic guitar. They were able to use this sound system, the guitar, and other instruments to attract villagers in far west Nepal so they could share the gospel. Padam is a very talented musician and he has a group of musicians that travel with him…they have even been able to make a CD! Their CD is very popular, and it has been a great tool to spread the love of Christ.

When Padam and Prabina contacted us again about some more needs, we jumped on the chance! They asked for recorders and songbooks for the children. Prabina would teach them how to play, then eventually ‘graduate’ them to the flute! They also needed more guitar strings to get them through for a while. This time, we wanted to take what they needed directly to them! Recorders and guitar strings were donated, money was given for the Vegge Tale Songbooks, and we surprised Prabina with a flute someone had given us. What joy it brought us to encourage Padam and Prabina, assist them with their ministry, and bring them items that they needed. We could not have done it without YOU!

Here is Bhuwan playing the flute. He plays the native flute, but not the American version, so it will take some teaching on Prabina’s part. Bhuwan was once a Hindu, then gave his life to the Lord, and he now works with Padam and Prabina.

One day in Nepal, Prabina took us to their land
where they will be building a training center.
Directly above this land is an open area with
360 degree views, where you can see so many
of the villages that have never heard the gospel.

It is Padam and Prabina’s vision to share Jesus with every single village in Far West Nepal. While we were there, Jonathan grabbed a guitar and led us in songs and prayer. It was an incredible moment.

Jonathan was also able to sing, Open the Eyes of My Heart, in a small church in Nepal. About 30 people were sitting on the floor worshipping the Lord in a 12X12 room. Just to hear them singing holy, holy, holy was beautiful…they may not have known what they were singing, but that did not matter!

Eighty percent of Nepalese are Hindu, and twenty percent are Buddhist. Both religions have millions of gods, and the Nepali people worship these gods out of fear. Out of all of these gods, there is not one god of love. How said would it
be to never feel loved? What an awesome message we have for the Nepali people. The one true God loves them,, and He loves them so much He died for them! What an incredible God we serve, and one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord!

We wanted to share with you some pictures of the children and people of Nepal…enjoy looking at these precious faces…

What is Happening Now??

WAKETHESILENCE AFRICA

Right now, we are working on a request from a ministry in Africa called, Gospel for Africa. Here is some information about this ministry:

Chris and Noelle Jones received God’s call to begin Gospel For Africa in 2002. Noelle was born in Côte d’Ivoire and came to the U.S. in 1991. Pastor Chris was serving in the local church when they met. They were married and soon were receiving invitations to minister the Word of God in Africa. After seeing the need there for sound biblical teaching and discipleship, God began preparing them to lead the ministry of Gospel For Africa.

Jesus Christ is the hope for Africa.
In Matthew 28 our Lord commands us to go and make disciples of all nations. Many in Africa have answered the call to serve the Lord and His people. These servants of God need help from those of us who have been blessed with much. The greatest need is sound biblical training in an atmosphere where they can see the Word of God applied to daily life. Gospel For Africa will supply free bible training and materials to every student we teach.

They are in need of an electric/acoustic guitar, bass guitar, guitar amplifier, mics and mic stands. If you know anyone who would like to donate any of these items or help purchase good equipment, please contact us and mention WAKETHESILENCE Africa.

WAKETHESILENCE NEPAL

Padam and Prabina need an upgraded portable sound system for their traveling music ministry. They would like to buy and amplifier, speakers, monitor, mic stands, speaker stands, headphone for their sound guys, and the appropriate wires. Padam wants to purchase these items in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, because the cost is much less. So, we will be sending money to them once we have enough raised. The total cost if you would like to help with WAKETHESILENCE Nepal is $850.00.

WAKETHESILENCE UNITED STATES

Last year we were able to help Experiencing God Through Missions with one of their church plants in Wyoming. WAKETHESILENCE provided a portable Fender sound system for the church so they could have music and amplification for their sermons. Experiencing God Through Missions needs two more portable sound systems for two more church plants that they are assisting with here in the United States.

We desperately need your prayers for WAKETHESILENCE . Please pray that we can meet every legitimate need that comes to us. Pray that we have discernment and wisdom as we continue to grow as a ministry. Thank you for all you are doing for WAKETHESILENCE Ministries.

If you would like to help in any way, please contact us through our website, http://www.wakethesilence.com/. Jonathan and I are now back from an amazing mission trip to Southeast Asia to take recorders, guitar strings, and a flute to our friends and missionaries there, Padam and Prabina. We will have pictures of the trip posted soon, so please check back! Right now, I wanted to share with you some pictures that Padam and Prabina gave us showing how they have been using the guitar and sound system we gave them last year! I hope you are enjoying 2009 so far! I wanted everyone to know about some needs that have been presented to us recently in case you can help in anyway. Gospel for Africa contacted us a few weeks ago to let us know about their ministry and their needs for their church, Calvary Chapel Abidjan-Cocody. First of all, here is some information about their ministry....

How The Ministry Began.

So there is a little information about Gospel for Africa. They have been praying for a worship leader to come to their church, and the Lord provided for them! Now they are in need of a guitar, bass guitar, guitar amplifier and mics. We would love, love, love to help Chris find these items, and we are positive that God will provide! If you know of anyone that has any of these items laying around or if someone would like to provide financially for these items, please let us know as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your prayers and support of WAKETHESILENCE Ministries!

God bless,
Tara

Another Guitar to Honduras!

About a month ago, we sent another guitar over to Honduras with Ron and Susan with International Christian Hospice. They had come to us with a need for a guitar for a Pastor there. As you can see from our previous blog, we had already had the opportunity to help another pastor in Honduras, so this was a double blessing! Yesterday, we received a letter from Pastor Wilmer Moreno, and we just have to share it with you!

Brother Jonathan, We bless the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for your life. Thank you very much for the beautiful, brand new electro-acoustic guitar that you have sent to me. I am already using it to ministry the presence of the Lord at nights or early in the mornings. The Lord really surprised me and my wife with this treasure since he knows it was one of my hearts desires. I am not a psalmist, but a worshiper and for several years I sang and preached while I was beginning to preach the gospel and working as a pastor in the church where the Lord has me working in. Thanks again and may the abundance from heaven to bless you. Surely we will meet each other in heaven one day. Hugs and blessings to you and yours, 3 John 2 for you adn also for WAKETHESILENCE.
Love in Jesus, Pastor Wilmer Moreno
Iglesia De Dios Pentecostes De America, Gosen

Isn't that awesome! God is so good, and we just love to see Him work around the world! Ron and Susan made videos of Pastor Wilmer playing and saying thank you to WAKETHESILENCE Ministries. Now these brought tears to our eyes!

Click on the links below...
Pastor Wilmer Playing the Guitar

Thank you from Pastor Wilmer

Another Thank You!

And here are pictures...

Pastor Wilmer receiving his guitar...

Ron and Pastor Wilmer

News from Honduras

A few blogs ago, we informed you that a very nice Takamine guitar was donated to us, and this guitar was sent to a pastor in Honduras. We now have pictures and a letter from this pastor that we would love to share with you...

Dear brothers and sisters, I thank God for your lives and for using you in this ministry here in Honduras. I have been very amazed by God's grace in our lives. For the past two years I have been praying to the Lord for a guitar like this one, and two years later the Lord has responded. It’s amazing to know all the work this guitar has done already, and I promise you, it will be working much more for His glory. I will take care of it with love because I know it has been provided and is a blessing from the Lord. It already has been used in churches, seminars, and big and small groups. A young man from our church already learned how to use it and is playing in the church. This guitar is and will continue to be a blessing. Thank you very much and may God bless you all.
Pastor Franciso Ilias

Pastor Franciso and his family...

Receiving the guitar from Ron Naish, with International Christian Hospice.

The gentlemen that donated this guitar to WAKETHESILENCE wrote a letter to the missionary that would eventually receive this guitar. This is what Pastor Franciso is reading...what a blessing!

How exciting it is to see the fruits of this ministry! Franciso Ilias, is the pastor and worship leader of Christian Vision Church in Honduras, and he is a friend of Ron and Susan. Before they left for the United States for a short visit, he told them of a need he had for a guitar to play in their worship services. He would also use this guitar to go into homes and play for those that are nearing death, as he is also a Hospice trainer and worker. He told Ron and Susan that he was more than willing to pay for the guitar, although he has so little financially. In God's great timing, a beautiful guitar was donated to WAKETHESILENCE Ministries a few months ago, and we were able to hand this over to Ron and Susan at no cost. Pastor Ilias will be so delighted when he gets this guitar! As soon as we get pictures of him playing it, we will pass them on to you, our readers! For now, here are pictures of the guitar that was donated to us...

Thank you for your continued prayers and support of WAKETHESILENCE as we are seeing his hand move in mighty ways!

I just got back from a mission trip in the Dominican Republic, where I was joined by 200 other people from 56 different churches. Four teams spread out to different villages each day. We had medical, dental, and eye clinics, plus sports, and arts and crafts with each team. Also, the evangelism teams went house to house to share the gospel throughout all the villages. I was fortunate enough to be part of an evangelism team, along with my friends, Candace and Raquel. Raquel, born and raised in Puerto Rico, was our interpretor and definitely an asset on this trip! It was an amazing, amazing trip. We saw God's hand working in so many ways! Over 2500 people gave their life to Jesus Christ, and 278 Bible studies were started in the villages. Praise God!! Still hard for me to believe that SO many seeds were planted. The goal is to have a church started in each village. I made several contacts for WAKETHESILENCE, and we hope to help in many of these churches in the Dominican Republic.

God taught me several lessons on this trip, but more than anything I learned how selfish I have been. So easily I shared the gospel there without fear, yet in America, I let fear and pride hold me back. Our time here on earth is so short, and so many people in our backyards are lost and going to hell. We are called by Christ to 'go and tell' without fear of consequence. We can not be ashamed of the gospel, for think about the sacrifice Jesus made for us. I ask that all of those reading this blog will pray for Jonathan and I, as we strive to be more bold in sharing our faith with others. Help us not to lose this passion, and not to give up when it seems too hard. Thank you so much.

Tara

Here are some pictures of our trip...

Our first day...right off the plane...sharing the hope that we have!

The Eye Clinic

This is an awesome story...Janderi (the lady in the center of us...Candace, me and Raquel) had been praying for years that someone would come and bring her the truth. They had guests such as dove award nominee, Christy Nockels...Steven Furtick, with Elevation Church, one of the fastest growing churches in the country, and Randy Hughes...one of the greatest luthiers in the nation. WAKETHESILENCE Ministries had the honor to set up a booth at the conference. It was such a privilege to be surrounded by worship leaders whose desire is to share Christ's love to others through music. We got a lot of great feedback from the guests there, and they were very supportive through donations and prayer. Thank you, Inspire '08! A special thank you to Matt and Randy Hughes for helping us with our booth and spreading the word about WAKETHESILENCE! In her application she describes what she does there...

I am working as a missionary with EQUIP, but I do my own personal ministry as well. The church I attend has a choir that wants to learn American music to complement their African music. We also sing hymns (from very old hymnals), and because there are no instruments and no one can read music, the tunes are usually much different from that written. I have found it difficult to teach them both the melody and parts to songs without help with an instrument. These people have been deprived of so much from the wars, but they love the Lord and love music. I want them to learn music and sing it correctly.

Here are the immediate needs that she has:
Keyboard (66 note, with some different instrumental tones (piano, organ, etc.). It needs to be 220V and/or battery.

She also needs accompaniment tapes to sing to for a male quartet, choir and solos.

If you can help with any of these needs please contact us! Thank you very much for your constant prayers and support.

We found this sweet picture of children in Liberia...

Tara and Jonathan
WAKETHESILENCE Ministries

WAKETHESILENCE in Guatemala!

Biltmore Baptist Church has a sister church in Guatemala that they send mission groups to several times a year. This year, we have 46 students already registered in four different areas including Comitancillo, Sipacapa, San Miguel and Ixtaguacan. By doing all these, it has encouraged me to prepare more in music. This year, I started to study in the evangelical conservatory NEW SONG in Guatemala city. They are the only ones that offered me this option to study one weekend every month. Normally it would be every weekend. So, I travel once a month to study 4 hours to the city. It is also urgent to have my driver’s license, type "C", so I can drive to teach classes once a week in each of these communities already mentioned. All these seem to me difficult to achieve, but I am convinced, I know, that with your prayers our God will provide this resources to achieve my goals.

Thank you so much and may God bless you.
 Misael Salvador Crisóstomo

We were so excited to help Pastor Misael, and we were able to provide the money for his classes and for his driver's license. We hope to keep you updated on how the classes are going for him and what he is learning. In March, a team from Biltmore Baptist went to Guatemala to help with needs there. Sam McLamb, a WAKETHESILENCE board member and Single Adult Pastor at Biltmore, was able to present the money to Pastor Misael from our ministry. Before the team left for this mission trip, Sam received a request from Pastor Misael's church for guitar strings. These strings were donated to WAKETHESILENCE Ministries, so they were able to present these also! I am happy to report that we are now incorporated, and we have our application in to the IRS for tax-exempt status approval. We are praying that it is approved quickly! We wanted to tell you about some people that we have been able to help through WAKETHESILENCE Ministries. Our good friends and missionaries in Southeast Asia expressed a need for an electric acoustic guitar and a sound system. They needed this to expand their worship ministry in and around the area they are living. They have been using music to minister to the people in the community, and this has been such a powerful tool. Yet, their sound only reaches so far, and many people are missing out. With this new equipment they have the capability to reach the ears of more people, attracting them to the gospel. Fortunately, a guitar was donated, and a portable sound system was purchased for these missionaries! Our website has just gone live, and we couldn't be more excited! Right now, we are in the process of applying for our nonprofit status, and we will let you know when this is official. We are looking forward to what God has in store for this ministry...we have BIG dreams, but our God is so much bigger than even our dreams. Thank you for your interest in WAKETHESILENCE, and we hope that you will continue to check back with us frequently. We will be posting pictures and personal testimonies of those that are directly affected by the ministry of WAKETHESILENCE. We will write soon!

Here we are...Jonathan, Tara and Toni (the cutest dog in the world)!
